Dreams into plans for 2013

It's amazing what changes {and doesn't change} in one short year. I've had some time for reflection over the last few days, and after reading this post of my new year's resolution for 2012, my resolutions this year are almost a carbon copy. Not that I failed per say, it's just that life gets in the way! 2012 was full of changes: new home, lots of exciting travel, starting graduate school. Where would I have found the time to dedicate to my goals?

Now, before I hang my head in self-defeat, I've got to remember this is human nature. We're creatures of comfort, and going through the motions is always easier than going against the grain. I think we tend to forget what's really important and get bogged down by the everyday. Pretty soon, life's gonna pass us all by before we know it.

SO, I've started a planner dedicated to things I want to work on this year. Later tonight, Derek and I will also be making a big poster of our dreams, putting it where we'll see it every day, and continuously focus on our goals. Here are some of my goals for the year:

1.) Grow my blog. I find so much joy in sharing tidbits of my life here, and I want to focus more time and energy into sharing the very best home projects, photos and life lessons with all of you. As most of you bloggers know, you get out of it what you put into it. This may come with a name change (thoughts?) to more closely identify with what my passions: travel, vintage home decor, simple life and love.

2.) Sell at craft fairs and antique shows. I've been wanting to do this forever. Planning, researching making...yet I get paralyzed when it actually comes to DOING it! I want to sell reclaimed treasures and some of my own handmade creations. Any advice would be welcome!

3.) Organize my business/ life. This one is so hard for a right-brained person. My office is a mess of receipts, and my craft room is a hodge-podge of crafty tidbits. Have to straighten things out {and keep it that way!}

4.) Start saying NO! Always a struggle. But, I look back at 2012 and realize that saying YES to things that didn't align with my priorities held me back from the things that were important to me. If they don't benefit my life, soul or family, I'm out!

5.) Live a healthy life. Isn't this on everyone's list? It's for a reason. It's the foundation of everything else in your life. No exercise + crap food= low productivity and laziness. Not OK for this girl's dreams! I'm starting off the year with a yoga foundations class, a fabulous gift from my sweet hubby. Balance, health, strentgh, happiness...bring it on!

Daily reminder

Ahh, now, a deep breath. It helps so much to see that written out. I can't wait to see what 2013 holds. Thank you for coming along on this journey with me!

xoxo,

Kayli

  1. It's good to start saying no. But more importantly, I think it's good to start recognizing why to say yes. I turned down a job offer in November because it was too big of a pay cut. Looking back, I am slightly regretful of saying no because I hadn't been in the right mindset to look at the decision from a particularly healthy angle.

    Similar to your benefit of your life, soul or family... I'm focusing on importance. If it's not REALLY important (forget fake importance like money), it's not worth it. ;)
